A global powerhouse in electrical engineering and electronics, with innovative environmental caring technology and sound business management, Siemens Ltd. Seoul (SLS) voluntarily conducted a spring clean-up at Han River Park on March 29.
About Sixty members of the company’s ‘The NANUM’ volunteer corps applied oil stain to chairs at the park. If regularly applied an oil stain, a color additive, can pre-vent wood, which is vulnerable to the effects of snow, rain, and sun, from warping and extend the life of wooden products.
The clean-up program was conducted in collaboration with CANS, which falls under Seoul City’s Hang River Project Headquarters. CANS is an acronym for Company, Apartment, NGO & Group, and School, referring to a volunteer community that is designed for citizens to willingly manage Han River Park, one of Seoul’s landmarks. Siemens and CANS plan to remove hazardous plants, arrange flowers and plants, and clean roads around the park until November.
“Han River Park is a common area for Seoul citizens to relax. Siemens will conduct clean-up activities on a regular basis ? not as a one-off event ? to help create a cleaner community,” said JongKap Kim, Chairman & CEO of Siemens Ltd. Seoul.
SLS conducts volunteer activities every month since it launched ‘The NANUM’ vol-unteer corps in January 2013. In 2012, SLS launched ‘Siemens Mobile Clinic,’ a mobile free health screening service, to promote the health of disadvantaged chil-dren. In addition, the company has run the ‘Caring Hands - Ai SaRang KiKeum’ fund since 2007, a matching grant program that requires the company to donate the same amount of money donated by employees. Under this program, the Seoul-based corporation provides a KRW1.2 million scholarship per student for 60 elementary school students of low-income, single parents every year. At the same time, it provides a variety of educational programs to inspire their dreams.
